When managing tasks in Notion, especially within large databases, there are times when you'd like to update the properties of multiple items at once. For example, imagine you have a task database with a "Status" property, and you want to change the status of multiple tasks to "Completed" without having to modify each one individually. This feature not only saves time but also enhances your workflow efficiency.
In this interactive tutorial, you'll follow along step by step to learn how to bulk edit properties in Notion.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Open Your Database View
First, ensure you’re in the correct database view. Note that regular table views do not support bulk editing, so make sure you're using a database view to proceed. - Select Consecutive Rows
If you want to edit consecutive rows, hold down the Shift key, select the first row, and then select the last row. This will select all the rows between them. - Click the "Status" to Make Changes
After selecting the rows, you'll see a floating toolbar with all the properties of your database (such as status, dates, etc.). Click on the Status property, and you'll be able to update the status for all selected items at once, like changing them to "Completed." - Select Non-Consecutive Rows
If the rows you want to edit aren’t consecutive, hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac), and click on each row you want to edit individually. - Click the "Status" Again to Make Changes
Similarly, once the rows are selected, click on the Status property in the toolbar and choose the status you want to apply to all selected tasks.
Important Notes:
✅ Bulk editing in Notion only supports applying the same value across all selected items.
For example, if you update the date to May 1st, all selected tasks will have the same date of May 1st.
❌ It’s not possible to set different values for each item when bulk editing.
For instance, you can't set some tasks to May 1st and others to May 2nd in a single bulk edit.
